Learning & Teaching
The model of learning and teaching that informs the daily classroom practices at Port Phillip Specialist School is built around a child-centred model of service delivery. To achieve this the staff at Port Phillip have designed and implemented a truly innovative approach that places at the centre of practice the use of the Arts. We use the power of engagement that the arts provide when we use dance, drama, music and visual arts to bring the wonder of learning to our special needs students.
Our focus for learning is on developing literacy, numeracy and living skills in our students that are delivered using the four domains of dance, drama, music and visual arts. Teachers and Therapists work closely together to plan appropriate learning experiences for our students to maximise ther engagement in learning.
